Waxed Cold

Matthew 24:12 KJV “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

I have not been on wordpress much lately. We have been on the move a great deal, and we finally have some good news. We have sold our home in Quebec, and GOD had lifted that burden from us. As much as I love the property, paying two mortgages, and all the bills that come with it, is a stress that we could do without for sure. While finishing up some things with the property we decided to visit our Christian family as well, which was just wonderful. You can find their blog here on wordpress at Uncompromising Faith.

What I wanted to talk about though, was what we experienced, which was just the opposite of our visit with them. Since the last time we visited Montreal and Quebec, homelessness has exploded. It seemed everywhere we turned there was someone sitting, sleeping, desperate or hungry. It is heartbreaking to see this. So many people in need.

Do you know what the worse is though? I stopped for a moment, and just watched. I mean I watched others. How they reacted, what they did, and what they said. That was the saddest, and most devastating part of all. NOTHING! They treated them like they were part of the concrete. Not a smile, not a look, not a word. They treated them like they were part of the side walk.

One morning early, my husband and I saw a man sleeping on the church steps. I asked my husband for my debit card and he asked “Where are you going?” I said to buy breakfast. A few minutes later my husband showed up and I said what is going on? “He said I am buying three more.” So we bought them brought it out. As we went by we just stopped and talked to a man named Gilles. He said how he had a good job once, and was doing well. Then he just lost it all. Now he is here, and he gets help from the Salvation Army. I gave him a big hug, and he was so happy. People looked at me, and I could see it and hear it. “How could she do that?” That was their thought. They did not even have to speak it. IMAGINE! I hugged a homeless man, and people frowned upon it. That is the state of people’s hearts.

Matthew says iniquity will abound, and the love of MANY will shall wax cold! That is the MANY I saw in the streets walking, not a smile, not a word, not a look.

That is why they cannot see what is right in front of them. Human need in it’s most basic form, compassion. It has been replaced by concrete.

But you know all is not lost. JESUS has mercy enough for the whole world, and still does miracles. I was feeling so sad for everything I saw, so on Sunday we went to the museum. There was a painting there, and it was one of the biggest. It was called “The Raising of Jairus Daughter.” It lifted me as well. When we left, we went to eat and the cook made three meals for us by accident. We took the meal back, but he told us to keep it. As we walked outside there was a homeless man in the park looking through a garbage can. We gave him the food.

GOD is so good, and HIS timing is always perfect.

All Glory and Honour is Yours Almighty Father through your SON, JESUS CHRIST!
