What’s In Your Purse?

Matthew 26:11 KJV “For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.”

I have often wondered why JESUS said this to Judas, when he questioned him about selling the ointment for money, to give to the poor. It kinda seemed off to me for some reason. There was something about the word “poor.”

JESUS said you will have the poor with you always. It seemed a bit harsh of the LORD, even knowing that Judas was a thief. But then the HOLY SPIRIT showed me a verse in James that made it all clear. JESUS here is not talking about poor in the way we think of poor, or the way Judas thought of poor.

In the Book of James it says exactly was it means to be “poor.” Here it is.

James 2:5 KJV “Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?”

See to be poor is to be rich in faith! Oh we might look on people that have nothing according to worldly standards, but oh how they may be rich in faith. JESUS says “Blessed are the poor in spirit (poor in self, humble, relying on HIS faith) for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”

So now back to our first verse. The poor you will have always but not me. What is JESUS saying here? I think JESUS is referring to something more than HIS death although HE would be gone in the flesh. These people there. They saw JESUS, they touched HIM, and heard and felt HIM. There would be a people though, that would have faith without sight, and touching and feeling. It would be a true faith of HIS SPIRIT, and not flesh. JESUS said to Thomas in John 20:29 KJV “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” These are the poor in spirit of self. They have great faith but not because of sight! Blessed are those of you who have the faith of JESUS yet have never seen HIM.

The poor, who are rich in my faith will you have always with you, even when I am not with you, in front of you in the flesh, in your sight.

2 Cor 5:7 KJV “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”

All Glory and Honour is Yours Almighty Father through Your SON, JESUS CHRIST!
