Rising Above the Wreck

Isaiah 40:31 KJV “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

For the last little while myself and my husband have been trying to visit a few new places close by for hiking. We found one such place about 2 hours away that I did not even know existed.

It was the site of a B-36 Bomber crash. What is amazing is that a lot of the wreck is still there. We decided that it would be a great hike, and so off we went. Now the hike is mostly uphill, and along a dried up river bed. When we reached the top there was a mass of twisted metal all strewn from one end of the hill to the other. Engine parts, wing parts, you name it, it was there, bent and broken.

You know I thought about all that wreckage and the HOLY SPIRIT put something in my head. HE said you see all this mess thrown around here, this is all flesh. Twisted and bent and broken. HE said but look out and above. Look at the view. Look at those beautiful hills and waters over the ridge and listen to how very quiet it is. That is SPIRIT. HE said if you try to unbend that metal down there, it’s gonna make a lot of noise. It’s gonna be very hard, time consuming, and frustrating. It will be impossible for you to do, let alone find all the parts, and try to put them back together. Can you find all the pieces of that wreck and put them back together? Of course not. That is flesh. HE said my SPIRIT is just the opposite. It’s calm and quiet, and not twisted, or bent at all. It’s not heavy. It’s not exhausting either.

GOD’s SPIRIT raises us above the wreckage of our flesh. We just have to let GOD work through us, and not try to unbend and untwist flesh ourselves. That is not our job.
