The Mystery of the Magi

You never know what or where you will find things in the Bible. I was reading in Psalms 72, and there I found the gifts of the Magi. Verse 15 KJV “And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer (Frankincense) also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised (Myrrh).” Now the Holy Spirit started digging at me, and I started to look at the Magi again.

You know every question, and answer is in the Bible. I truly believe that. You just have to ask the HOLY SPIRIT to help you find it. I may not always get it right because I am human, and of course I may not always understand what the HOLY SPIRIT is showing me, but I do try.

It says the Magi came from the east. I don’t believe this means the Orient. If you look at the word for east here it can have two meanings. One does indeed refer to direction, but the other refers to a springing up, rising light, being born, something growing up. Wisdom does that. They were called wise men. Now the root of this rising is a combination of two words. The first means in the midst, among. The second refers to power, authority, offices of magistrates (magi for short). Now another word for this is Council, the Jewish Council. I don’t believe these men came from any foreign country at all, but were part of the Jewish elite and council. They were smart. They studied. They were awaiting the Saviour, and they were watching for HIS sign.

There is a very interesting Scripture, and I believe it has a double meaning. I think it gives the name of the first Magi. Here it is. John 19:39 KJV “And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.” I did not catch it but when I read it a couple of times it struck me. Why does it say, which at the first, came to JESUS by night? Why was it important to say that? Yes he was indeed bringing myrrh now to the tomb, but I think this is a double meaning. We all knew who Nicodemus was, and that he had already spoken to JESUS. There is a reason this is mentioned. I don’t believe it had anything to do with meeting JESUS as a grown man. I believe Nicodemus (Victory over satan-our eternal praise) brough myrrh, at the first, when JESUS was born. I think he is one of the Magi, one of the Council, of the Magistrate.

The next is Jospeh of Arimathea. He offered frankincense. The name Jospeh means to add to something. To fill it, complete it. Joseph gave his tomb that would be filled with the body of JESUS. The HOLY SPIRIT sang me a song recently. It was this song. Ebony (meaning stone in Hebrew) and Ivory (God’s Grace), live together in perfect harmony. Do you remember this song? The word in Hebrew Awbaw, means to fill up an empty space like an ark, or tomb, a void that needs to be filled. Ivory filled the Ebony, in perfect harmony. Light filled the darkness. Prayer filled it, completed it. The anointed one, the Saviour, our perfect prayer.

And finally, this one was not so obvious. We have the Gold of Sheba. Sheba is an oath, seven. It is the HOLY SPIRIT. So who now would have been at JESUS’ birth that had the HOLY SPIRIT? This one took me a while. It said John the Baptist was filled with the HOLY SPIRIT in his mother’s womb. Now could John have been there, or his father? Ah it is quite possible. It was John that saw the HOLY SPIRIT descend like a dove on JESUS, the Gold of Sheba, and I believe Zacharias was the third Magi. He and Elizabeth lived in the hills of Judea very close to Bethlehem. They would have known Mary and Joseph would come to be counted, and they would have known they were there. Zacharias means Jehovah remembers. It means to make a memorial, bring to mind, make a record, related to the word for to be clean, pure, bright and shining. Like gold. The HOLY SPIRIT is our forever Counsellor. We all now have the Gold of Sheba because of Christ.

Luke 1 -67:80 KJV “And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.”

I cannot prove these things, but they make sense. Everything is always in the Bible. GOD never leaves loose ends.

All Glory and Honour is yours Almighty Father through Your SON, JESUS CHRIST!
