Psalm 42:7 KJV “Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.”
There are times in the life of every Christian when we feel that the river is dry, and we are just wandering alone in the wilderness. You know what I mean. We are thirsty, and there in nothing to satisfy that thirst.
Maybe we have a life that has become too much for us, and we have neglected to allocate time with GOD. Maybe we have let doubt, and mistrust creep in. Maybe we have just become lazy. Whatever the reason, we begin to recognize that something is very wrong, desperately wrong. It needs to be fixed. We begin to search. We need refreshment that only GOD can provide.
What happens when we can’t seem to find it? Our desperation grows and grows. We feel like the walls are closing in. Our cries become louder, and louder. It is then that we reach a place called “the deep.” It is a place where nothing else matters to us, BUT GOD. It is here where we become a SHOFAR. In Hebrew we cry out, from the deep, the Tekiah, a long sob like blast enduring and crying through the waves and bellows, Shevarium and Teruah, wails and piercing blasts that are the trails in your life where you feel like GOD has abandoned you. “All they waves and thy billows have gone over me” All the vexing and torments are flowing over me. My life is suffocating me, and I cry out to GOD for help.
Have you every cried out to GOD in times like that? From the depths of your inner being? From a place where maybe you yourself did not know even existed? When you felt like all hope was lost? Like you, were lost? When you felt like there was just one thing after another, and you could not breathe for the trouble in your life?
So what is the last part of the verse “Deep calls unto Deep.” You see there is one more blast of the Shofar. This also is called a Tekiah. But this SHOFAR is GOD. This is where “the deep” calls back.
This is GOD’s loving cry back to you. GOD hears your cry for mercy and answers you in the depths of your inner being. HE calms your fears, gives you living water, and refreshes your dry well.
This verse is the cry of a child, and a loving FATHER, GOD HIMSELF, who answers.
All Glory and Honour is Yours Almighty Father through Your SON, JESUS CHRIST!
